Austin Wedding Photo and Video FAQ

What is documentary style wedding videography?

Documentary style wedding videography focuses on capturing the real story of the day as it naturally unfolds. Instead of turning every moment into a staged production, the goal is to preserve the emotion, movement, voices, people, and little in-between moments that made the wedding feel like yours.

For us, documentary style does not mean boring or unpolished. It means the film feels honest, personal, and connected to the actual energy of the day.

How is documentary wedding videography different from cinematic wedding videography?

Documentary wedding videography usually leans more natural, candid, and story-driven. Cinematic wedding videography often feels more polished, dramatic, and visually directed.

At Cloud Craft Studios, we do not force every couple into one specific style. Some couples want something more candid and documentary. Others want something more cinematic and romantic. Most want a blend of both. Our goal is to adapt the creative approach to your taste so the final film feels like your wedding, not just our formula.

Do you offer both wedding photography and videography in Austin?

Yes. Cloud Craft Studios offers both wedding photography and wedding videography in Austin and throughout Central Texas.

Couples can book photography, videography, or both together. When you book photo and video with us, our team works together with the same creative direction, timeline awareness, and overall approach to the day.

Is it better to hire one team for wedding photo and video?

Most of the time, hiring one team for wedding photo and video helps the day feel more cohesive. The photographers and videographers are working from the same plan, communicating with each other, and approaching the day with the same creative priorities.

That said, we also work with outside photographers and videographers all the time, and that can be great too. Sometimes having two different creative influences adds something special. The most important thing is that everyone communicates well and respects the flow of the day.

What should couples look for in an Austin wedding photographer and videographer?

Of course, you should love their work. Look through full galleries and full films, not just Instagram highlights.

But personality and approach matter just as much. There are a lot of ways to handle a wedding day. Some teams are very hands-on and directional. Others are almost completely hands-off. We like to think of our approach as a blend of both. We give direction when it helps, especially for lighting, portraits, and timeline flow, but we also know when to step back and let real moments happen.

What should couples know about your wedding videography packages?

We keep our packages simple because wedding planning already comes with enough big decisions.

Instead of offering a long menu of confusing options, we offer straightforward photography, videography, and photo plus video packages that include what most couples actually want and need. Our wedding videography currently starts at $4,750, and our goal is to make the process clear, easy, and not overwhelming.

What is included in your wedding photo and video packages?

Our wedding videography package includes a 6-minute highlight film, a full ceremony and toasts film, and a 60-second reel.

Our wedding photography package includes 500 or more edited photos. When you book photo and video together, you get one coordinated team capturing the day with a shared creative approach.

Do we need two videographers for our wedding?

In nearly every circumstance, yes. Weddings move quickly, and video requires a lot of gear, audio, cameras, and setup throughout the day.

Having two videographers helps us capture multiple angles of major events like the ceremony, first dances, and toasts. It also allows the lead videographer to focus more on creative coverage instead of constantly moving gear, setting up cameras, or troubleshooting logistics.

Can you capture candid moments without making the day feel overly staged?

Yes. That is one of the most important parts of our approach.

That said, some moments that look candid are gently guided. Sometimes we will give small direction to place you in better light, clean up a background, or help the moment unfold naturally on camera. The goal is always for everything to feel relaxed, real, and true to the day.

Do you use real audio from the wedding day in your films?

Yes. We use real audio from the wedding day whenever it adds emotion and meaning to the film.

We mic people before major events like the ceremony, vows, letter readings, first looks, and toasts. Those real voices often become some of the most powerful parts of the final wedding film

What makes Cloud Craft Studios different from other Austin wedding photo and video teams?

Cloud Craft Studios is built around the idea that wedding photo and video should feel personal, natural, and true to the couple.

We are not trying to make every wedding look exactly the same. Some weddings are emotional and romantic. Some are loud and funny. Some are stylish and editorial. Some are deeply family-focused. We adapt to the couple, the setting, and the energy of the day while still bringing a polished, professional, and creative approach to the final photos and films.

We are especially focused on candid moments, real audio, natural storytelling, and making the experience feel easy for our couples.

Do you travel for weddings in San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Central Texas?

Yes. We are based in Austin, but we are happy to work throughout Central Texas, including San Antonio, New Braunfels, the Hill Country, Dripping Springs, San Marcos, Canyon Lake, and beyond.

We typically do not charge a travel fee for weddings in Central Texas.

Do you retouch wedding photos?

We edit every delivered photo for color, exposure, tone, and consistency, but we do not heavily retouch photos or alter how people naturally look. Our editing style is meant to feel polished but still real.

Do you use AI for photo or video editing?

No. Our photo and video editing is done manually by real people. We care a lot about keeping the final work authentic, personal, and connected to the actual wedding day.

Do you offer film photography?

Yes. We can offer film photography, and we only charge for the cost of film and processing. It usually comes out to about a dollar per photo.

Do you offer Super 8 or VHS wedding video?

Yes. We offer Super 8 and VHS wedding video options.

Super 8 is more expensive because of the cost of film and processing. It is about $200 for 3 minutes of footage, and we usually recommend getting at least 6 minutes.

VHS is free of charge. We can hand the camera to a friend or family member and let them cook. That footage gives the wedding a fun, nostalgic, home-video feeling.
